Becca M Designs

My name is Rebecca Miller and I am a Surface Pattern, Printed Textile Designer and Illustrator from Leeds, UK. This blog is to showcase my work, and also to give examples of things that interest and inspire me.

A little about me;

I have a 2:1 BA(Hons) Degree in Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern Design from Leeds College of Art and a Distinction in FDA Visual Arts from Leeds Metropolitan University.

I love to design, mostly for interiors. Wallpaper being my favourite, but I love taking on new challenges. My skills include; screen printing on both paper and textiles, digital printing, printing using such techniques as devore, flock and foils, natural and synthetic dye processes, printed lengths, hand drawn illustration, CAD using Photoshop and Illustrator, repeat patterns.

I love; art, architecture, design, drawing, thinking, learning, visiting, exploring, reading (all kinds), cities, countryside, random acts of kindness, green tea drinking, nature, mushrooms and fungi (but only to draw), fairness, vegetarianism, NYC!

I have been working on a new drawing of a fox with foxgloves and bees. Faber Castell polychromos on cartridge paper.

The second of my series, Hare & Bluebells. This is a tough one, so many patterns and colours in the fur. But bit by bit he’s coming along.

My deer and magnolia’s drawing is finished! Loved doing this :)

On-going design I am currently working on. I intend for this to become a series, across wallpaper and textiles, as well as framed prints also.

Tendonitis

So after some pain and swelling in my wrist and arm, the doctor confirmed I have tendonitis due to repetitive strain injury. This is in my left arm, also my drawing arm! I have been told to rest it so the tendons have time to heal, which could be anywhere between 8-10 days. So this means, I can’t draw!!!! I have so much work I want to do…but…I don’t want to risk damaging my arm and hand. I have a brace ordered which should help support it while it heals. Hopefully I can do a little drawing when that arrives. So I don’t expect I’ll be able to update with much on here for a while.

Ramona Ring

These illustrations by Ramona Ring are lovely. Really interesting and beautifully complex in the imagery used. I love the use of soft colours too!
